Flinders University was Established in 1966 in South Australia, their main campus is located at Bedford Park and other campuses are in Victoria Square and Tonsley. On 1st July 1966, University Act was passed and the Bedford Park campus started their operations. At the beginning the university had only 90 staff members and 400 students. Sir Mark Mitchell was appointed as its first chancellor and Peter Karmel as its first vice-chancellor.

At present Flinders University has many campuses in Australia but most of the campuses are located in Southern Australia.
