How is this going to affect you as an International Student?

This decision has proved to be a relief to those Indian students who were planning for their higher studies in the UK.  As per the new regulations fully vaccinated Indian students who are flying to the United Kingdom need not to stay at hotel quarantine for 10 days. India is currently not on London’s “red” list of countries, it has moved to the “amber” list. The “amber” list countries only need 10-day quarantine at home or any place of their choice after they arrive. They will retain the option to "Test to Release" after five days of quarantine. One of the most important things to remember here is that Indian students need to take a Covid-19 test within 3 days before their flight. Students also need to book for 2 Covid-19 tests to be taken on arrival in England as well as complete a passenger locator form on arrival. Indian students can also end the quarantine early if the student decides to pay for the private COVID test and opt for the “Test to Release” scheme. The option can't be taken unless the traveler has been in England for five full days. Those below 18 and those fully vaccinated in the UK are exempt from home quarantine. So are those who have received two doses of Covid vaccine in the EU and the US. Indians who are fully vaccinated in the UK or in a country with a vaccination programme approved by the UK or part of a UK-approved vaccine trial will not need quarantine. It is estimated that thousands of families and students will be affected by the shift from red to amber status. The ease of travelling will help students a lot. The expenses will decrease for the students which is sort of a big relief. 10- day hotel accommodation may cost students around £1700 which is equivalent to Rs.175663. 

"The UAE, Qatar, India and Bahrain will be moved from the red list to the amber list. All changes come into effect Sun 8th August at 4am," UK Transport Secretary tweeted.
